What was your biggest work challenge?

Did you think you were going to make it through it?  Are you facing it now.  Well, the worst part of this kind of challenge is that it takes so much out of you, that you have nothing left to give.  You find yourself behind the ball in every way, and you tend to get blind sided by things you were not expecting.  You are not as organized as you usually are.  People are so demanding and critical of you and this makes you put your guard up and become defensive.

You know you are smart and have proved it so many times over and over again, so why is this happening to you?  You have come to this path and closed door?  What will you do now that you are facing it?  It is so much work to climb this massive feat.  The workload is very heavy and gets heavier as the day goes on and you travel up that mountain.  You keep asking yourself, is this really worth all the blood, sweat and tears you give day in and day out?  Are the people I work with the kind that give a damn about their job, this place, and about doing the right thing?  You begin to question your very existence and why you made the choices that got you here.  What is my purpose and who am I here to serve? Is there a life lesson here for me to learn?  Why am I being punished this way?

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

If you are here, then let me ask you this question…are you ready to get out of this misery yet?  Have you thought about what it would look like without all this pain?  There is so much relief that you will see after letting go of the heavy baggage.  All you have to do is decide to map out your plan and get on with the life you really want.

This rock and mountain you have been climbing is not going to defeat you unless you let it.  You really can make the best of the next 20 years you have left by committing to yourself in figuring this very question out…do you love yourself enough to get this done now, or are you going to continue to self punish and endure the pain and misery?

Lots of people are taking the advice of career coaches and mentors these days, because they want a plan that will get them closer to that successful path for themselves.  Choose someone that has walked in your shoes and knows what it takes to create that next chapter and is committed to guiding you on your path by giving you the tools to free your soul and connect with your purpose and map to your future.

Is this the happiest time in your career?

Where is your path taking you?  Have you decided what you want and planned for it?

If not, how do you know if you are going to get there?  It is easy to be happy when things are going well in your career, but the moment things start getting crazy and so difficult that you don’t know if you can continue down the path, this is the moment you realize you may need a plan.

If you are not happy in your job or career, what are you going to do about?  Having a job that sucks the life out of you is very hard on you and drains you of all your energy.  So much so, that you will not have enough left for yourself or your family at the end of the day when you go home for the day.  Struggling with even exercising?  Yeah, we have all been there.  What are you going to do about though?

I challenge you to get off that recliner, put your phone down and take a walk to clear your head.  What do you really want to do with the rest of your life and your career.  Stop pining for that piece of land, winning the lottery, or just being retired…cuz you still have so much yet to do.  I know it and you know it.  It is not time for you to give up on life, because you got over stressed and didn’t have a plan.  Now is the time to start planning so that you will know you have it…look around you at those successful career folks that got their retirement early.  How did they get there?  Look at all they have…now what is your plan damn it?

You can’t wait to leave work, you dread going in every day…so what are you waiting for?  You don’t really have to recreate who you are, you have to pull from within you what you really are and make the plan to get there.  Now go do it!  Yes you!  Get off that couch and start researching what it will take to get that piece of land, pay off your bills, and set those damn priorities.  You will need at least 6 big ones to get you started.  You will need to focus on all 6, but the top three must be those directly related to your next 12 months, then we will talk about the 1 year and 5 year goal.

You have what it takes, you are smart, and you can do this!  Go! Go! Now really I mean Go and get it done!  I will be here waiting to hear what you did today about it.  Drop me a comment if this was helpful.  Reach out to me if you want some advice.  Message me if you really need some help and want me to push you to get it done!

Where is your road taking you?

What if I could hand you a map that could lead you to feeling happier in your career?  When you look in the mirror, do you see your happiness reflecting back at you?  If you don’t what is it exactly, that is staring you in the face…uncertainty in your plan or pain with where you are at?

I would like to challenge you to take a journey with me.  This journey will involve you stopping for just a moment to reflect on where you have been and what got you to where you are now.  It will involve you looking at what your current feelings of where you are now.  I would ask you some really important questions like, what do you like about this place (job), and what don’t you like.  Next, I would want you to write about these important questions, the feelings you get when thinking about them from both a positive and negative perspective.  After you have identified your reality on this journey, I will challenge you to look at your situation from an objective point of view to sort out what is important to you, what do you want and what do you not want moving forward.  This journey will require you to focus on a lot of feelings and about feeling better, taking actions step by step to get there.  I am hoping you will get off your phone or get away from your desk for a few moments to take me up on this challenge to become a better version of yourself.  You will thank me later…

If you are so frustrated with the current workload and demands you are facing at work now, you are tired of being taken for granted at work, unsure about your job security, tired of working so many hours with no light at the end of the tunnel, afraid for your health due to work related stress, or lacking confidence to get out there and get that amazing career ahead of you; we need to talk.  You need to get your road map figured out so you are not blindly navigating life hoping to be happy, and instead are taking the bull by the horns and doing something about it.

  • Figure out what really makes you unhappy in your career.
  • Use a proven success system by successful working professionals to keep you on track.
  • Choose your support system to finally get what you deserve.

Don’t wait until you reach the point of despair or health crisis.  We only have a defined time on this earth to spend time with the ones we love.  Don’t foolishly waste another minute to see how things might improve.

The key to your career happiness is you!

Let’s take this journey together message me to ask how to get started today!

What were you thinking when you took that job?

If you are thinking how you got into this job and what were you thinking when you did, this is the right place to start…

Your Thoughts Create the Real You

No matter what you’ve defined as your next chapter on paper, what you are telling yourself subconsciously in your thoughts? Do you have control, and are you aware of the power of your thoughts to direct your path to your defined next steps? If I find myself letting negative thoughts creep into my mind and don’t shut them down, I get those feelings of insecurity about my progress. This is a normal part of transforming your mindset and living the Law of Attraction.

Look at your circle of influence to seek positive feedback from someone who loves you and has been a steady positive reinforcement for you on this journey is the most helpful. Lean on them from time to time to keep yourself on track. Don’t be so critical of your progress. If you are anything like me, you are your own biggest critic. Others are able to take a trusted outsider’s point of view to see if you are progressing on the desired path you have set for yourself.  If you don’t have someone you can share this with, start looking to find someone that is above your level of success and career and get their perspective.

Whether you use a career coach or trusted person to get advice, this is also a great way to get people on board with your long-term plan, so they can help you stay on track. This kind of accountability and support is what I provide to my clients. I know what it is like to feel unsure of the choices I’ve made in this journey, and as this is a new path, as yet untraveled, for you, don’t be afraid to utilize the resources you have available to you. Make sure that person has the type of experience you have had and has navigated tough situations like yours or similar.

Take this time to evaluate where you are in your career before going any further. Are you clear on the sources of your current and past dissatisfaction? Do the tools in your toolbox support your new vision of where you want to go? If you find that you cannot use some of those tools such as meditation and journal exercises, then let’s explore other options that work well for you to get a clear mind and release the negative energies that are bogging you down or creating the stress in your current work experience.

I would really suggest you get out your goals again and look at each one, focusing only on the top six you have created. What is it about your last experiences that dissatisfies you now? I was disappointed with the leadership in my last couple career experiences. Did the leadership you experienced seem to have a personal vested interest in you and your success? Maybe at first it seemed that way, but after a few years of seeing the behaviors from those leaders, I didn’t feel the walk and the talk were aligned. For me, it is important that we as leaders are doing the same.

When looking for the ideal job or the experience that appeals to you, consider  structuring your interview questions to provide some concrete examples of this. One interview experience that worked well for me was talking to different leader within the organization about the leader I was interested in working for. Did they talk highly about this leader? Did they share specific examples of employee satisfaction that you could relate to? If you can feel good about the leadership and the opportunity you are seeking, then chances are, you will have found a good fit for your next chapter.

Now, how does being clear on your dissatisfaction with the last work experience relate to your thoughts and creating the real you? If you are not clear on the things you don’t want, how can you attract that which is important for you? Finding a job or career choice that supports the best version of yourself will give you the best chance of finding work-life balance, satisfaction with your choice, and alignment with the real you when you have put the time into writing it out and being clear in your mind before you set out for that role. When your mental well-being is satisfied, then your physical well-being will be supported in the process.

There is a major shift in mindset going from a job you hated or didn’t work out well for you to that new role you have created in your mindset.  Those feelings of dread, anxiety, heaviness in your heart and health side-effects you had been feeling in the last job are not going to follow you into the next one if you do it right this time.

I will guide you on how to create your road map to the next to your success . This is where you create your vision of your next career steps. Not only do I want you to find within yourself career happiness, but happiness in all areas of your life. This next exercise involves writing six goals for yourself to accomplish in the next twelve months. When you start thinking about which six you will focus on in the next 3 months, then I will guide you on how to incorporate your core habits and values into your ideal job description whatever that be.  You will start thinking from the perspective of defining your outcome in this new approach instead of the job tasks only.  You will be clear on your top priorities and how important your personal values are for selecting the right role.  When you find that role based on your priorities, that reflect your core values, for example, God, family, career, friends, community, etc.; your strength and confidence will now lead you through the interview process, or changes you plan to make.

Start with the first three priorities and create three to four steps for each goal, then assign due dates for each action under the goals. How much money would you generate and by when? If you are starting your own business, do you have a business plan? Who is your ideal client? How many contracts or clients would you have to secure each month to meet your income goals?

Some people like to work backwards from their desired annual income to a monthly income. For example, if making 120k, or 10k per month how are you going to get there and what are the obstacles that stand in your way? What are your solutions to those obstacles?  This part of the process will require some thinking on what your skill set is and what type business or career you want to pursue.  I have some great examples I have worked through with others and may be able help you get your thought process going on this.

Now I hope I have inspired some food for thought for you and you can start thinking about what is really important to you when you accept a new job and make the decision to change your career path.  If you are looking at staying where you are and trying to figure out how to salvage what is, then it is time to evaluate your current thoughts and the reasons you feel bad about your current experience.  Ask yourself what you can do about it.  If you don’t see any potential solutions, I would be happy to help you figure out next steps and help guide you on your plan to get out.  Let’s talk before you are in the position I was, fearful of your health and worried about.  STOP and do something please…

How do you love yourself more?

Feeling depressed, unhappy all the time in your career and don’t know why?  You are probably low on self love.  The million dollar question is how do you fill yourself up so that you are happy in every area of your life?  This is something that I have been researching over the past year in my career change.

First, I left a very good paying job because the stress was too great, my health was waning, my spark had left and my interests had changed.  I started looking for my true purpose in this life.  I looked to career coaches that had experienced the same feelings as I had and were able to figure out how to conquer their world, reach their dreams and find their happy place.

I was sick of the long days leading into my personal life and taking my work home every night after a very long stressful day of work.  While most people claim to disconnect when they leave work, the cell phone and laptop technology that now have become essentials of the job have made it impossible to disconnect.  When you start answering emails from home at night, you begin to set new expectations without even realizing it.  I heard a saying that has really hit home with me; that is, “what you allow will continue”.  You are actually teaching people how to treat you by what you allow.  I never thought of it in this way, so simple yet so empowering if you take it to heart and start living this.

We need to start establishing boundaries between our personal and professional lives.  This is easier when starting a new job, but when you have been allowing the boundaries to be pushed, it is a little more challenging for you to change the game easily.  Answering emails during off-work hours is the beginning of setting these boundaries for yourself.  You need to demonstrate to those you work with, what belongs to your employer and what belongs to you and you only.  Set these boundaries between you and your boss, so you don’t give away pieces of your soul.

The biggest take away from this over stressed work experience for me was that I needed to change my mindset.  What do I mean by mindset?  When you find yourself always focusing on your faults instead of the good in every situation, you tend to obsess with always trying to fix yourself and feel that you are not good enough.  Well, why not figure out just what makes you tick instead of trying to feel like you need to fix” you?  Start by asking yourself “What I don’t want” to get to “What I do want”.

There are many tools as a Mid-Career Mastery Coach that can be used to create self love levels that you have never experienced before.  Will it mean you have to try new things and maybe even change how you think?  Absolutely!  If you don’t make this change, how can you expect anything different than what you got before?

After we figure how to change the mindset, we can focus on how you can love yourself better.  Stop allowing the energy vampires to drain all of your energy at work and at home.  You will learn to increase your self love and energy to start vibrating at a higher level and attracting what you want.  This will not be easy, because your subconscious mind has been running the show for a long time.  You will need to work at this every day until you can learn to control your subconscious mind and better direct your thought process, stop the negative limiting beliefs in their tracks.  You might even learn how to pamper yourself and fill up with ways to love yourself better.

It is time for you to take action right now or things will never get better.
